D-Mac

It was an absolute pleasure to have fought my first fight against Devin "D-Mac" McAndrew. Although only an exibition bout, it was a real taste of competition, as D-Mac certainly gave me all I could handle. It was definitely a tough match up for me, although I outweigh D, he has me over in speed, strength,youth, skill, experience, ring experience, AND he's even better looking! But I felt I competed well, landed a few shots of my own and although the young man(and friend) clearly out-classed me, I was proud that I competed with spirit and took some real good punches well(including an uppercut to the chin that sent a wave of quick pain, deafening my ear momentarily) and gave the spectaters an honest effort.

One thing I must say is that Devin is all class. Yes he is a devasting boxer, but more importantly an absolute pleasure to be around and one of the people I look up to at our gym. He is a respectful young man that carries himself with class and grace. He is friendly and kind to everyone at the gym, has no ego, or cockiness about him, he is humble and good natured and although he is only 17 years old, he's an example of what a gentleman should be inside and outside of the ring. Boxing By Syd is lucky to have him, as the future is safe in his hands.

It was honor for me to have shared my first competitive ring experience with D-Mac, I'm proud to have traded punches with such a good boxer, proud to have survived the experince(still can't chew that well however!) and simply proud to be friends with Devin, someone that we should all be proud of knowing. Thanks D-Mac, I'll never forget it.

We're Ready!!!

At long last the moment has finally arrived. I have an exhibition bout on the 24th of November and barring any disasters, I will have my first amateur fight that we will be able to announce in the first week of December. So, here some footage demonstrating what I have been up to to get to this point, and you can decide if you think I'm ready! I have to admit, I look awesome. Enjoy!
